No evidence, no score. We do not generate a modeled estimate for an organization that does not publish a report or provide a measurable inventory; we honestly write "report not within our scope" on its profile. Because no score is generated for records that submit no evidence, the gap between these two numbers is the clearest proof of our principle.
Official-registry records. Records taken from official registries (EPA GHGRP, Canada ECCC GHGRP, EU MRV, UK ETS, Australia NGER, Japan EEGS, Korea GIR) count as evidence: the figure comes from a regulatory filing (in EU MRV, UK ETS and Korea's K-ETS it is also checked by an accredited verifier). That is why they can carry an Accuracy Estimate even though the company published no report of its own (Japan EEGS records are sealed but not scored). The two groups are counted separately above.
Universe note. Among company disclosures, the comparison universe consists only of companies that publish public reports — we explicitly disclose this structural selection bias. A company's absence from the universe does not give rise to any positive or negative inference about carbon performance.
