Terms of Use

The English text of this page is the legally binding version.

By using Carbonbench (the site, the API, data downloads), you accept the terms below. We tried to keep it simple; where it's binding, we speak plainly.

Description of the Service

"As-is" — we provide no warranty

Carbonbench is an open protocol that compiles public corporate carbon reports via machine reading, checks them with deterministic rules, and cryptographically seals every record. The service is provided "as is" and "as available". We do not guarantee uninterrupted availability, error-free operation, or fitness for a particular purpose.

Every number, formula, and label we publish is tied to a public methodology (see Methodology) — there is no black box. But this does not mean the results are error-free — we also publish our own margin of error (see Legal Notice).

What the Scores Mean

Not investment, credit, or rating advice

The Accuracy Estimate, Transparency Score, Target Quality, and all similar indicators are the output of the statistical plausibility analysis — not an audit opinion, an assurance opinion, or a credit rating. A score being high or low does not constitute a recommendation on whether to invest in, extend credit to, or make any commercial decision regarding the company in question.

Do not use scores as the sole basis for a decision. These are an indicator and an estimate; the final decision belongs to your own due diligence.

Content Use

Share freely — with attribution, as-is (CC BY-ND 4.0)

The scores, tables, charts, protocol, and methodology descriptions on the site — commercial or not — may be shared, embedded, and distributed freely; you do not need our permission. The content is licensed under Creative Commons Attribution–NoDerivatives 4.0 (CC BY-ND 4.0). Two conditions apply:

Presenting a record or score in isolation, stripped of its context (band, evidence status, "n/a"/"no disclosure" labels), as if it were a claim of certainty, also violates this condition. If you are not sure how to use it, you can ask us.

Automated Access

Open files, considerate use — against scraping

The platform is open. Single records and the static shard files are open without an account. The full list with scores (/gated/) requires sign-in and is not yet generally available — write to us for access. There is no API key and no enforced rate limit today; please keep your request rate reasonable and cache on your side. For programmatic access, use the Open API. Fair use:

Access that exceeds fair use, or is intended for scraping, may be limited or blocked by us.

Limitation of Liability

We are not responsible for the outcome of your decisions

Carbonbench and its related persons cannot be held liable for any direct or indirect damage arising from any commercial, financial, or legal decision made based on the information on the site. Data is compiled from publicly available sources; errors, omissions, or misleading statements in the source document are beyond our control. When we detect our own reading errors, we correct them and publish the record as a new version (records are not deleted).

Right to Change

Content and formulas may be updated

We reserve the right to change these terms, the site, the API, and the scoring formulas without prior notice. Changes to scoring formulas take effect in two windows per year (January and July) and are published with a version number on the Methodology page — past versions are never lost.

Disputes arising from these terms are governed by the laws of the Republic of Türkiye. For your questions: support@carbonbench.org.

Summary

Carbonbench is provided "as-is" with no warranty. Scores are statistical plausibility indicators, not audit/assurance opinions, credit ratings, or investment advice. Content may be freely reused verbatim with attribution ("Carbonbench" + link), without modification (CC BY-ND 4.0). Single records and static shard files are open; aggressive scraping may be blocked. We are not liable for decisions made based on site content; our own reading errors are corrected and republished as new, non-deleted record versions. Scoring formulas change on two fixed windows per year (January and July). Governing law: Türkiye.
