Carbonbench is not built to make money from data. Its purpose is to measure how far corporate carbon disclosures can be trusted — and to share that openly with everyone. The universe, scores, protocol, and methodology are free and will remain so — scores are never for sale, under any condition.
Single records and the static shard files are open without an account. The full list with scores (/gated/) requires sign-in and is not yet generally available — write to us for access. There is no API key and no enforced rate limit today; please keep your request rate reasonable and cache on your side.
None of these lock up the data or the score — all are optional and none compromise independence. Not profit, but sustainability.
The digital version of the CB-M handbook and report outputs is free and open; only the physical print carries a charge, at production cost.
Explore the bookOptional: methodology training on how disclosures are assessed, and corporate attribution/usage guidance. The improvement roadmap on every profile is free. It's a service — not a score purchase.
Organizations that support the open infrastructure are listed among the supporters. Sponsorship has zero effect on scores and rankings — this is a principle, not a preference.
The protocol, methodology, scores, and data are yours to share, embed, and distribute freely — you do not need our permission. Only two conditions:
If you're not sure how to use it, ask — we'll guide you. It's free to use, including commercially, as long as the source is preserved and the content unchanged.
Independence disclaimer: No payment, print sale, training, consulting, or sponsorship can change a company's score, rank, or visibility. Scores are produced solely from public disclosures, using published formulas. Pay-for-score improvement will never happen.
Leave your details — we will get back to you within a few business days; if needed, we may call you by phone.
